Introductory pricing
A dollar goes a long way.
KnowStash runs on credits, and the unit is honest: 1 credit = one hour of video, fetched, indexed, and kept forever. Every subscription costs the same per hour. A bigger plan is a bigger allowance, never a better rate. Top-ups are the walk-up rate, double what a plan pays, for when you need a few more. You start with free credits either way.

Every plan includes everything: the extension, the web app, monitors, and all model presets. Plans differ only in how many credits arrive each month, never in what an hour costs. Prices are introductory while we're in beta, and shown before VAT / sales tax. Checkout adds your country's rate. Subscriptions renew automatically each month until you cancel; cancel anytime and you keep your plan and its credits to the end of the paid period.
Top-ups
Need a bit more? Top up any time.
One-time credit packs at the walk-up rate: double a plan's price per hour. No subscription needed, they stack with any plan, and credits never expire.
Running out every month? A plan buys the same hours at half the price, so upgrading costs less than topping up. One-time purchases. Nothing renews. Prices shown before VAT / sales tax.
Teams & B2B
Monitoring at scale for products, markets, and research desks, with invoiced billing and help designing your monitors. From around 200 credits a month we sign volume agreements: $0.90 to $2.00 per credit depending on the volume committed, invoiced through Paddle. Ask us for the pricing sheet.
The meter
One credit = one hour of video.
Stashing is the hour-priced part; once a video is stashed, notes on it are cheap: one credit writes about ten standard notes on a one-hour video. These are today's introductory rates; the app always shows the live price before you run anything.
| Action | Costs |
|---|---|
| Stash a videofetch + index: makes it note-ready and keeps it forever; what's already stashed is never charged again | 1 credit / hour of video |
| Write a note · standardthe everyday preset, ~10 notes per credit on an hour-long video | 0.10 credits / hour of source |
| Write a note · premiumdenser sources, more careful writing · the deepest preset | 0.60 credits / hour of source |
| Update an existing notemerges new material into the same versioned document | 2× the note rate |
| Monitor checkhourly is the fastest cadence ≈ 0.24 credits per day; what it finds is billed at the normal stash & note rates | 0.01 credits / check |
| Newsletter issuea monitor that emails you a written roundup of a queue's new notes; flat per issue sent · 0.40 credits with a premium write-up · a quiet window sends nothing and costs only the check | 0.10 credits / issue |
Everything is prorated by video length: a 10-minute video stashes for ≈ 0.17 credits, and a standard note on it costs ≈ 0.02 credits, under a fifth of one credit, all in.
Back of the napkin
What do 5 credits look like?
The learner
Around 25 ten-minute tutorials, stashed and noted: a whole course's worth of watch-later, turned into a searchable library.
≈ 0.18 credits each
The deep dive
A two-hour lecture, stashed, with a premium note: the careful write-up you'll actually reread. Room left over for follow-ups.
≈ 3.2 credits all-in
The market watch
A monitor on your keyword, checking every two hours, all month, plus the stashes and notes for what it catches.
≈ 3.6 credits / month + finds
Five credits is five hours of video. Every plan prices those hours the same; bought as a one-off top-up they're the walk-up rate.
Questions
Fair questions, straight answers.
What exactly is a credit?
Subscription or top-up: which should I pick?
Why doesn't the biggest plan get a discount?
Do credits expire?
* That's today's policy, and it's locked in for what you've already bought: if we ever introduce expiry windows, they'd apply only to credits bought after we announce them, never to a balance you already hold. The likely shape is a few months for subscription credits and about a year for top-ups, since a monthly allowance and prepaid credit aren't the same thing. Either way you'd get advance notice, here and by email.
